SoBRO has more than a decade of experience developing and managing commercial and residential properties. Our portfolio consists of over 700 units of affordable housing and hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial, industrial, and office space in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan and is currently valued at a total of over $106 million.
SoBRO’s housing development efforts include rehabilitating existing buildings and creating new buildings in vacant space to transform blighting influences into beautiful and viable spaces for living and working. One of SoBRO’s goals and part of our comprehensive strategy for community development is to increase the availability of owner-occupied and rental housing for low- and moderate-income families by generating available housing. SoBRO currently has approximately 600 units in its pipeline, at various stages of development.
Commercial development is also central to SoBRO’s real estate efforts. To date, SoBRO has built or rehabilitated almost 260,000 square feet of industrial, retail space, and office space in the Bronx; creating jobs, attracting new businesses and residents, and facilitating our business assistance programs. In addition to its own development projects, SoBRO has facilitated rezonings in collaboration with the NYC Department of City Planning in the underutilized neighborhoods of Morrisania, the Bruckner commercial corridor, and the Lower Concourse where industrial zoning precluded development.
These efforts combined have created an opportunity for the private sector to invest in Bronx neighborhoods and develop integrated residential, commercial, and industrial development projects. If you are interested in our residential properties or if you are a business looking to the Bronx or expand to a larger facility, SoBRO can provide comprehensive assistance with your real estate needs.
