SoBRO is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the South Bronx by generating effective economic, housing, educational and career development programs for youth and adults
On January 28, 2016, the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) hosted Senior Officials from the Cuomo Administration for the 2016 Bronx State of the State briefing on Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s address about the year’s Executive Budget; his initial speech given at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany on January 13th. The Bronx Briefing brought the Governor’s Address and New York State priorities to the borough in an effort to communicate State initiatives regionally. The theme of the Governor’s agenda for the year is “Built to Lead,” in recognition of New York’s heritage as a standard bearer throughout US history, the significant progress achieved in the state over the past five years, and New York’s inherent capacity to lead the nation in addressing some of today’s most pressing challenges. Phillip Morrow, President and CEO of SoBRO stated that “SoBRO looks forward to continuing the community dialogue with New York State and advancing our community and economic development strategy which in partnership with various City, State, and Federal partners, builds a better Bronx.”
SoBRO’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the South Bronx by strengthening businesses and creating innovative economic, housing, educational, and career development programs for youth and adults.
