SoBRO is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the South Bronx by generating effective economic, housing, educational and career development programs for youth and adults
Last April, the SoBRONX Print Shop, SoBRO’s new youth-run social enterprise, operated a booth at the fourth annual Green Festival Expo at the Jacob Javitz Center. The Green Festival is a dynamic marketplace where companies and organizations come to showcase their green products and services while educating people on how to live healthier, more sustainable lives.
The SoBRONX Print Shop, is a full service screen printing company specializing in customized silk screening. The company is located at the SoBRO Venture Center, the first business incubator in the Bronx. The “Young Executives” have completed rigorous academic requirements, written a full business plan, and have been instructed in industry best practices. Going forward, they will also participate in an executive mentoring program.
The SoBRONX Print Shop was the product of a series of entrepreneurial development workshops, funded by the Starbucks Foundation, which were introduced into the program in 2014. The workshops explored topics such as personal and business money management as well as the creation of a comprehensive business plan.
Our first event was a huge success! The students mingled with consumers and wholesalers, sold merchandise to festival attendees and took several orders. We excitedly await SoBRONX Print Shop’s future achievements.
SoBRO’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the South Bronx by strengthening businesses and creating innovative economic, housing, educational, and career development programs for youth and adults.
