SoBRO offers a wide variety of business services that allow us to help minority/women-owned enterprises from a holistic point of view. These include our commercial revitalization projects assisting commercial districts which are dominated by minority/women-owned enterprises (Avenue NYC), an industrial business assistance program that serves all five of the Industrial Business Zones in the Bronx which are home to thousands of MWBEs, real estate development projects that create much needed commercial space, the management of SoBRO-owned commercial space, almost all of which is occupied by minority/women-owned enterprises, and programs that specifically focus on the needs of MWBE/MBEs.
Bronx Minority Business Center
The U.S. Department of Commerce funded Minority Business Center at SoBRO offers business development services to Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), assisting them to achieve higher levels of growth and competitiveness. In collaboration with the MBDA, SoBRO’s MBC staff will work collaboratively to improve access to domestic and international market opportunities, foster key industry relationships, and leverage business expertise. The MBC also provides technology assistance to educate entrepreneurs about the impact of technology on their profit margin, helping small businesses to maximize their profits and grow their businesses while staying competitive in today’s business environment.
SoBRO’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the South Bronx by strengthening businesses and creating innovative economic, housing, educational, and career development programs for youth and adults.
